Dimitris P. Kraniotis was born in 15 July 1966 in Larissa Prefecture in central Greece and he originates from Stomio (Larissa) where he grew up. He studied Medicine at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (Greece). He lives in Larissa (Greece) and works as a medical doctor (Internal Medicine Specialist with MSc in the Medical School of the University of Thessaly).

He is the author of 10 poetry books in 7 languages in Greece and abroad: “Traces” (in Greek, Greece 1985), “Clay Faces” (in Greek, Greece 1992), “Fictitious Line” (in Greek, English and French, Greece 2005, “Dunes” (in French and Romanian, Romania 2007), “Endogram” (in Greek, Greece 2010), “Edda” (in French and Romanian, Romania 2010), “Illusions” (in Albanian, Romania 2010), “Leaves Vowels” (in Italian, Italy 2017), “Tie of Public Decency” (in Greek, Greece 2018) and “Minus one” (in Spanish, Spain 2022). Also he is the Editor-in-chief of the international anthology in English “World Poetry 2011” (205 poets from 65 countries).     

He has won many international awards for his poetry which has been translated in 36 languages and published in anthologies & magazines in many countries. He has been invited and participated in several important International Poetry Festivals around the World such as Medellin (Colombia), Shanghai (China), Dubai (UAE), Boao (China), Havana (Cuba), Struga (North Macedonia), Granada (Nicaragua), Romania, USA, Czechia, Tunisia, Serbia, Spain, Bulgaria, Albania, India, Mexico, Honduras, Morocco, El Salvador, Argentina, etc.

He is Doctor of Literature (Litt.D.) by the World Academy of Arts and Culture (WAAC), the Latin American Academy of Modern Literature (Mexico) and the Association of Writers and Artists of the Orb (AEADO, Peru), Academician in Italy (Academy Tiberina of Rome, International Academy of Micenei, Academy of Sicily, International Academy Leopold Sedar Senghor, Academy of WikiPoesia), Academician (Fellow) of the International Academy of Ethics (India), Academician of the International Academy of Literature, Art & Communication LIK (Ukraine) and the World Academy of Culture and Literature AMCL (Brazil), Doctor of Arts in Poetry by the International Art Academy (Greece), President Emeritus of the World Congress of Poets (UPLI), President of the 22nd World Congress of Poets (Greece 2011), President of the World Poets Society (W.P.S.), Director of the Mediterranean Poetry Festival (Larissa, Greece) & Chairman of the Writers for Peace Committee of PEN Greece.

He was Professor of the Department of Nursing of the University of Thessaly (former TEI of Larissa) in Greece, Vice-President of the United Poets Laureate International (UPLI), Vice President of the Gandhian Global Harmony Association (GGHA, Russia-India), National Chairman of the Mother Teresa International Foundation (India) in Greece, Vice-President of the Larissa Medical Association (Greece), Vice-President of the Larissa Union of Poets and Writers (Greece) and Editorial Director of the Greek medical magazine “Hippocrates”.

Also he is a member of the World Poetry Movement (WPM), Poets of the Planet (PoP), International Writers Association (IWA), PEN Greece, Hellenic Literary Society (EEL), National Society of Greek Literary Writers (EEEL), Hellenic Society of Physicians Writers, etc.
