Vice President<\/strong> <\/em><\/p>\n<p>1948, 15th of July<br \/>\nIn Codreni village, Cainari district (not far from the locality where Alexei Mateevici, the singer of &#8220;Limba noastra&#8221;, came into the world) Nicolae Dabija, poet, publicist and politician, was born. Parents: Trofim Ciobanu, peasant with a &#8220;library&#8221;, Cristina Dabija, peasant (is descended of priests, her brother Serafim Dabija, superior at Zloti monastery and her cousin, priest Nicodim Onu, being condemned in 1947 by People&#8217;s Commissariat of the Ministry of Interior, within the same process, to severe years of prison for the \u201canti-Soviet activity\u201d. The archimandrite Serafim Dabija was deported because of the grave \u201ccrime\u201d for \u201chaving built a monastery for anti-Soviet purposes\u201d. He studied at the primary school in the native village (1955-1959), but left incomplete secondary school in Sagaidac village (1959-1963) and secondary school in Cimislia town (1963-1966).<\/p>\n<p>1965<br \/>\nHe begins working for the newspaper \u201cTinerimea Moldovei\u201d with a cycle of poems eulogistically presented by literary critic Mihai Cimpoi.<\/p>\n<p>1966-1972<br \/>\nHe studies at Moldova State University, faculty of Journalism (in the III year he is expelled for \u201cthe pro-Romanian and anti-Soviet activity\u201d, after it, in 1970, Dabija begins to study at the faculty of Philology, the same university).<\/p>\n<p>1972<br \/>\nAfter graduation from the university, the young writer is employed as an editor at the Chisinau\u2019s Television Youth editorial office.<br \/>\n1975<br \/>\nThe Publishing House \u201cCartea Moldoveneasca\u201d, publishes the first book of poetry entitled suggestively Ochiul al treilea, which will extend over all generation of the seventies\u2019 writers being called by the literary critique Generatia \u201cOchiul al treilea\u201d. Nicolae Dabija works for the journal \u201cNistru\u201d (later \u201cBasarabia\u201d) as chief of the section Poetry and Critique.<\/p>\n<p>1977<br \/>\nDabija is the winner of the Prize of Youth of Moldova for the volume of poetry Ochiul al treilea. With earned money the writer has built a well in the village where was born, named \u201cthe Dabija\u2019s well\u201d. He founds and leads the literary society \u201cDialog\u201d of Writers Union. In the same year, has appeared \u201cTretie oko\u201d (volume of poems) printed at the Publishing House \u201cMolodaia gvardia\u201d (Russia), which was highly appreciated by Valentin Kataev, Russian Writers Union secretary.<\/p>\n<p>1980<br \/>\n\u201cApa neinceputa\u201d volume and \u201cPovesti de cind Pasarel era mic\u201d (book for children) have appeared at the Publishing House \u201cLiteratura artistica\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>1982<br \/>\nThe author has received the International Festival prize for \u201cYoung Poetry\u201d ( Schwerin, Germany).<\/p>\n<p>1983<br \/>\nDabija has published the volume of essays about the classics of the Romanian literature \u201cPe urmele lui Orfeu\u201d, based on documents and historical data collected from the archives of Moscow, Kiev, Lvov, Harkov, etc. The censorship qualifies the book as \u201charmful\u201d, because it is one about \u201cpriests\u201d and \u201cfeudal lords\u201d, which was saved by the president of Writers Union, Pavel Botu, who has prefaced it.<\/p>\n<p>1984<br \/>\nHe contributes to the creation of the journal \u201cOrizontul\u201d (later \u201cColumna\u201d) which was a journal of young writers. Nicolae Dabija is its first editor-in-chief.<\/p>\n<p>1985<br \/>\nThe Publishing House \u201cLiteratura artistic\u201d has printed \u201cZugravul anonim\u201d volume of poems. At the same time, \u201cPoezie moldoveaneasca contemporana\u201d has appeared, a volume of poems translated into Russian entitled \u201cStihi\u201d (Poems).<\/p>\n<p>1986<br \/>\nIn the month of May Dabija is elected by the VII the Congress of Writers Union of Moldova to be editor-in-chief of the weekly \u201cLiteratura si Arta\u201d, which will become the flame of the national revival movement, the most expected and read journal in the history of Moldova, reaching a circulation of 260 000 copies in 1990. Being one of the \u201cliterary publications with the biggest circulation from Europe\u201d (it has mentioned in French newspaper \u201cFigaro\u201d, which has outlined that \u201cLiteratura si arta\u201d had played in the Revolution of Bassarabia National Revival the same role which had played the Romanian Television within the Revolution of December 1989). The known success of Chisinau\u2019s journal brings a \u201cpsychological war\u201d between this one and the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Soviet Union which makes attempts to \u201cmoderate\u201d it, to forbid it.<br \/>\n\u201cI scazala mne Jar ptitsa\u201d (\u201cPasarea Maiastra\u201d) book for children has appeared translated into Russian by Alexandr Brodski.<\/p>\n<p>1987<br \/>\nA real cultural event is constituted by the appearance of \u201cAntologia poeziei vechi moldovenesti\u201d which Nicolae Dabija has translated from Slavonic, Greek, Polish, Latin, which has discovered in the archives of Russia, Ukraine, Poland, etc. The poet holds conferences on radio and television about national history, forbidden up to then in Bassarabia, published later in the republican press (especially in \u201cNoi\u201d journal for children, under the heading \u201cDin tata-n fiu. Capitole din istoria Moldovei\u201d). In the same year, at the invitation of the Writers Union from Romania, Dabija crossed for the first time the river Prut and visited Putna, Ipotesti, Humulesti, Voronet, Gura Humorului, Suceava, Iasi.<\/p>\n<p>1988<br \/>\nNicolae Dabija is the winner of the State Prize of the Republic of Moldova, field Literature and Arts for the books \u201cAntologia poeziei vechi moldovenesti\u201d, \u201cPe urmele lui Orfeu\u201d and \u201cAlte povesti de cind Pasarel era mic\u201d. The writer is a member of the State Committee for language problems, which leads the discussion on returning to Latin alphabet and the necessity to legalize the Romanian language as the official language in the Republic of Moldova. Dabija is one of the animators of the National Liberation Movement, of People&#8217;s Front from Moldova. The literary manifestations with Dabija\u2019s participation were transformed, in the same period, into meetings of protest against the totalitarian-Soviet regime. The song \u201cCit traim pe acest pamint\u201d (ballad) on lyrics of Nicolae Dabija (music Tudor Chiriac) had become in 1988-1990 the anthem of the National Liberation Movement of Bassarabians, which was being sung by almost one million of participants in the Greatest National Meeting of August 27th , 1989, who were claiming for the right to speak Romanian Language, to write Latin Alphabet and National Dignity.<\/p>\n<p>1989<br \/>\n\u201cAripa sub camasa\u201d volume of poetry was considered the best book of the year. It was republished in 1991 at the Publishing House \u201cJunimea\u201d from Iasi, with a preface by Constantin Ciopraga. This book brought high appreciations to the poet in Romania. At the Publishing House \u201cMolodi\u201d from Kiev, the volume mentioned above has appeared into Ukrainian language translated by V. Zatulaviter, He is elected deputy of the people of Soviet Union in the last union legislative forum (1989-1991). In the same year, Dabija is elected to be Honor Citizen of Harrisburg city, Pennsylvania (SUA).<\/p>\n<p>1990<br \/>\nThe Publishing House \u201cHyperion\u201d has printed the documentary study \u201cMoldova de peste Nistru \u2013 vechi pamint stramosesc\u201d also translated into Russian. The edition also enjoyed a deep resonance beyond the borders of the Republic of Moldova. During the armed conflict from Nistru (1992), the volume is taken away from the libraries and bookshops of Transnistria by the separatists and is publicly burnt. The writer is elected deputy in the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova, where he performs a permanent the activity for national emancipation of Bassarabian, for the withdrawal of Bassarabia from the Soviet empire, for legalizing the Tricolor, for restoring the rights of Romanian language, history and Romanian identity. Dabija is elected president of the voluntary society \u201cLimba noastra cea romana\u201d.<br \/>\n1991<br \/>\nHe takes part in improving the quality of scholar manuals. In collaboration with Sofia Bolduratu Dabija has elaborated \u201cLiteratura romana pentru clasa 5\u201d(class book) fourth edition. The writer together with Aurelian Silvestru havepublished a cycle of manuals of history for primary classes \u201cDaciada\u201d also translated into Russian. Dabija becomes president of the Association of Science, Culture and Arts from the Republic of Moldova.<\/p>\n<p>1992<br \/>\nDabija has published \u201cDomnia lui Stefan cel Mare\u201d historical essay \u201cNasc si la Moldova oameni\u201d collection of stories. In the same year, the poet wins Ion Creanga Prize for the best book for children. The Writers Union from the Republic of Moldova has published \u201cPoezii de duminica\u201d collection with \u201cMierla domesticita\u201d booklet of poetry. Dabija is the winner of the Great Prize for Poetry \u201cNichita Stanescu\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>1993<br \/>\nNicolae Dabija is elected a member of honor of the Commission of Church History from Romania for the volumes \u201cPe urmele lui Orfeu\u201d (1983) and \u201cAntologia poeziei vechi moldovenesti\u201d (1987). The Publishing House \u201cHyperion\u201d prints the volume of poetry \u201cDreptul la eroare\u201d which obtains in the same year the Writers Union Prize from the Republic of Moldova. The Congress of Intellectuality from the Republic of Moldova takes place where Nicolae Dabija presents the basic report. The poet is elected president of the Intellectuality Congress.<\/p>\n<p>1994<br \/>\nThe Publishing House \u201cJunimea\u201d from Iasi has published \u201cLacrima care vede\u201d volume of verses. Nicolae Dabija is the winner of the Bibliophiles Prize for the best book of the year.<\/p>\n<p>1995<br \/>\nThe writer is the winner of the Romanian Academy \u201cMihai Eminescu\u201d Prize for \u201cDreptul la eroare\u201d volume. \u201cPoeti romani contemporani\u201d collection and \u201cOul de piatra\u201d poetic anthology have published in Bucharest. Dabija is elected to be Cavalier of the Order of the Republic of Moldova which he will return in 2002, as a sign of protest against the actions of communization of the society and undermining the democratic values by the governing party. In 1995, 1996, 1997 he becomes the winner of the Top \u201c10 journalists of the year\u201d, organized by the Press Club from Chisinau.<\/p>\n<p>1997<br \/>\nThe Publishing House \u201cScrisul Romanesc\u201d (Craiova) has printed \u201cLibertatea are chipul lui Dumnezeu\u201d collection of publicism which has brought the author the Prose Prize \u201cGib I. Mihaescu\u201d. The Publishing House of the Writers Union has published \u201cStefan cel Mare si Sfint\u201d album.<\/p>\n<p>1998<br \/>\nDabija is elected deputy in the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova and will represent the legislative forum of the Republic of Moldova at the Parliamentary Meeting of the Countries from the Basin of the Black Sea (APCEMN). The Publishing House \u201cMinerva\u201d from Bucharest has printed \u201cFotograful de fulgere\u201d volume of poetry, being prefaced by Eugen Simion, president of the Romanian Academy. In the collection Autograf, published by the Municipal Library B.P. Hasdeu from Chisinau, has appeared \u201cCercul de creta\u201d collection, comprising autograph texts and drawings of the author. At the Publishing House \u201cLitera\u201d has appeared \u201cCerul launtric\u201d anthological collection of poetry. The Foundation \u201cScrisul Romanesc\u201d from Craiova has published \u201cIcoana sparta, Basarabia\u201d volume of essays. The Publishing House \u201cHelicon\u201d from Timisoara has printed \u201cIntre dragoste si moarte\u201d and \u201cPoezia, bucuroasa tristete\u201d volumes of poetry.<\/p>\n<p>1999<br \/>\nThe Foundation \u201cScrisul Romanesc\u201d from Craiova has published the third volume of publicism and essays, entitled \u201cHarta noastra care singera\u201d which brings the Writers Union Prize from Moldova. The Publishing House \u201cEdit-press\u201d from Galati has published \u201cTaceri asurzitoare\u201d volume of poetry.<\/p>\n<p>2000<br \/>\nNicolae Dabija is the winner of \u201cTitu Maiorescu\u201d Prize given by the Lawyers\u2019 Association of Romania. The poet becomes Laureate of the Prize for Literature, for 2000 year within \u201cGala Iurie Matei\u201d. Dabija is given the Governmental Medal of Romania \u201cEminescu. 150 ani de la nastere\u201d.<br \/>\nThe president of Romania, by the Decree number 567 of December 1st , 2000 confers the order \u201cSteaua Romaniei\u201d with the rank of Knight Commander for the remarkable poetic work and for the involvement for promoting the Romanian spirituality.<\/p>\n<p>2001<br \/>\nThe Foundation \u201cScrisul Romanesc\u201d from Craiova has printed other two volumes of publicism and essays, entitled \u201cLa est de vest\u201d and \u201cVai de capul nostru!\u201d<br \/>\nDabija together with the pedagogues Sofia Bolduratu and Maria Hadirca have elaborated \u201cLiteratura romana\u201d book for the VI form, which has appeared at the Publishing House \u201cLitera\u201d. In the period of October 10th and 23th , 2001 on the initiative of the American Cultural Center \u201cIn Their Own Words\u201d from Northern Carolina (USA), the poet took part in many cultural manifestations by the occasion of launching the volume of poetry \u201cPhotographer of lighting\u201d (Fotograful de fulgere), which has appeared at the Publishing House \u201cThe granit press\u201d from Hickory, Northern Carolina, translated into English by Maria S. Simonca and Dr. Rand Brandes. The Bassarabian writer had meetings with the students of the University of Chapelle Hill, of the College Lenoir-Rhyne from Hickory, with personalities of the Romanian Diaspora from Washington, Atlanta, Raleigh, Hickory etc.<\/p>\n<p>2002<br \/>\nThe Publishing House \u201cLitera\u201d has published the volume \u201cIn cautarea identitatii. Istoria neamului romanesc din Basarabia povestita de elevi\u201d, which enjoys a high appreciation and an edition of 100 000 of copies. Nicolae Dabija is the winner of the prize of the Writers Union from Moldova for the volume \u201cIn cautarea identitatii\u201d. The Publishing House \u201cPrut International\u201d publishes the collection of lyrics and drawing \u201cAschii de stele\u201d. In the same year, has appeared the volume of essays and articles \u201cInsemnari de pe front\u201d, printed by the Foundation\u201dScrisul Romanesc\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>2003<br \/>\nOn July 21st Dabija is elected to be a Member of Honor of the Romanian Academy. The Publishing House \u201cLitera\u201d prints his collection of poems \u201cDoruri interzise\u201d, republished in 2004. Later on, the Foundation \u201cScrisul Romanesc\u201d from Craiova, prints his book on publicism \u201cRiul in cautarea marii\u201d. At the same time, in the USA, the volume \u201c Vlackibird once wild, nom tame\u201d (\u201cMierla domesticita\u201d) has appeared at the Publishing House \u201cBe Movie Press\u201d from Providens, translated into English by John Flynn. Also, the anthology \u201cSingular destinies\u201d has been translated into English by Adam J. Sorkin.<\/p>\n<p>2004<br \/>\nThe Publishing House \u201c Prut International\u201d prints the book for children, entitled<br \/>\n\u201cBondari cu motor\u201d. The Foundation \u201cScrisul romanesc\u201d publishes the volume \u201cBasarabia- tara de raspintii\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>2005<br \/>\nThe writer is elected the president of \u201cForul Democrat al Romanilor\u201d of the Republic of Moldova. It is a nongovernmental organisation of culture and justice, that has joined more than 150 cultural organizations, unions of creation and others nongovernmental associations. In 2008, this nongovernmental organization has above 200 000 members and it has branches in Ukraine, Russia, Israel, Italy, Serbia, Latvia, Georgia. Among the activities of this organisation takes part the adhering petition of the Republic of Moldova to become a member of the European Union, which included more than 200 000 signatures.<br \/>\nAt Ploiesti, it has appeared the book of poems \u201cFulger inrourat\u201d. The Foundation \u201cScrisul romanesc\u201d publishes the volume of essays \u201cBezna vine de la rasarit\u201d. In the same year, Nicolae Dabija is the co-author of the \u201cLimba si literatura romana\u201d for the VI class book.<\/p>\n<p>2006<br \/>\nNicolae Dabija is the winner of the prize of \u201cSfintul Gheorghe\u201d poems given at the International poems Festival from Uzdin (Serbia). He took part at the international conference \u201cStiinta si credinta\u201d being invited by Papa Benedict XVI from Vatican.<br \/>\n2007<br \/>\nThe \u201cLa musa nuova\u201d volume, translated into Italian by Amedeo Carocci, has been realeased by the Italian Writers&#8217; union.Maria M. Simonca (USA) writes and publishes \u201cPhotographer of Lightning\u201d dissertation based on his literary creation. In the same year, \u201cDe ce limba noastra e romana\u201d volume has been released at the Forul Democrat al Romanilor\u2019s first congress from the Republic of Moldova. Nicolae Dabija is the founder of pupils and students\u2019 Poezie Patriotica Festival . The Foundation \u201cScrisul Romanesc\u201d publishes \u201cPaznic pe inaltimi\u201d, which contains editorials and essays.<br \/>\n2008<br \/>\nThe Publishing House \u201cScrisul Romanesc\u201d from Craiova prints \u201cDestarati\u201d volume of essays and at Rimnicul-Sarat, the Publishing House \u201cRafet\u201d edits \u201cMaraton printer gloante\u201d collection of poems. Nicolae Dabija is elected the head of the European Forum for literary magazines in Balcic, Bulgaria. The Writers\u2019 Union from the Republic of Moldova, has offered him the &#8221; Opera Omnia&#8221; prize for his entire creation. At the same time, has appeared \u201cPoezie si publicistica. Interferenta limbajelor\u201d monography, which was written by Nina Corcincshi and which describes Nicolae Dabija\u2019s creation.<br \/>\n2009<br \/>\nThe \u201cTema pentru acasa\u201d novel is printed at the Publishing House \u201cEdit Pres\u201d in Iasi, \u201cHotii de sperante\u201d book on publicism is published at the Publishing House \u201cVicovia\u201d in Bacau., \u201cMesaje pentru supravietuitori\u201d book on publicism is edited at the Publishing House \u201cScrisul Romanesc\u201d and \u201c101 poems\u201d volume at the Publishing House \u201cBiodova\u201d in Bucuresti.<br \/>\nHe has received \u201cNichita Stanescu\u201d Prize at the International Poems\u2019 festival in Sighetul Marmatiei, Romania. Nicolae Dabija, receives the Honor Prize given by the Republic of Moldova\u2019s president for \u201ca sign of appreciation for his contribution to the process of national revival\u201d. Also, the Writers\u2019 Union from the Republic of Moldova has awarded \u201cPirghia lui Arhimede\u201d Prize \u201cfor promoting science and innovation in mass- media\u201d.<br \/>\n2010<br \/>\nIn May, the high school from Pinzareni, has decided to name it \u201cNicolae Dabija\u201d. Nicolae Dabija is the founder of \u201cGrigore Vieru\u201d International Poems\u2019 Festival.<br \/>\n\u201cMihai Eminescu\u201d International Academy gives the prize for \u201cthe best book of the year\u201d for \u201cTema pentru acasa\u201d novel and \u201cDenaster\u201d prize for prose. The same novel is elected to be \u201cthe book of the year\u201d.<br \/>\nThe \u201cTema pentru acasa\u201d novel has been proposed to be read within \u201cChisinaul citeste o carte\u201d compaign and has been chosen \u201cthe most popular book in the last ten years\u201d, which had more than 100 000 readers. Nicolae Dabija has obtained the Excellence Prize of \u201cSarbatoarea poeziei\u201d Festival in Iasi. The Academy of High Studies from Romania confers Doctor Honoris Causa title and honorific title of academician \u201cas a sign of high appreciation and respect for the entire literary activity\u201d.<br \/>\n2011<br \/>\n\u201cGeorge Bacovia\u201d University from Bacau (Romania) confers Member of Honor of the Academic Community title \u201cas a sign of recognition to promote the Romanian arts worldwide\u201d.<br \/>\nCulture Ministry of the Republic of Moldova gives \u201cConstantin Stere\u201d prize for \u201cTema pentru acasa\u201d novel. During the Cultural week in Ontario, Canada, Nicolae Dabija is elected to be the president of Forul Democrat al Romanilor de Pretudinteni. The writer also receives the National Prize for \u201c the entire literary activity\u201d. Technical University of Moldova confers Doctor Honoris Causa title. \u201cPirghia lui Arhimede\u201d Prize offered by the Writers\u2019 Union from Republic of Moldova is again obtained by the author. In the same year have appeared the following volumes: \u201cPoeme pentru totdeauna, opera poetica\u201d (Princeps Edit), \u201cTema pentru acasa\u201d (the third edition, Literatura si Arta), \u201cTema de dupa tema de acasa\u201d(essays, Princeps Edit), \u201cPovesti de cind Pasarel era mic: Batalia de la Nuiaua unde mi-am pierdut luleaua\u201d ( poem for children, Bastina), \u201cPovesti de cind Pasarel era mic\u201d (poem for children, Feed-Back), \u201cAschii de stele\u201d (poems, Sprinten Informar), \u201cPrivighetori impaiate\u201d ( Gens Latina).<br \/>\n2012<br \/>\nPetru Rares Lyceum from Soroca confers \u201cTeacher of Honor\u201d title. Lucian Blaga International Festival (XXXII edition) offers the prize for \u201cpromoting the Romanian cultural values\u201d. It has appeared \u201cFaclia credintei. Mesaje din Basarabia\u201d (Ploiesti Publishing House) book on publicism and \u201cPrutul are doua maluri\u201d (Babel-Vicovia Publishing House). In the same year, was republished the fourth edition of \u201cTema pentru acasa\u201d novel. On December 12th, Nicoale Dabija is chosen to be corresponding-member of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova.<br \/>\n2013<br \/>\nThe Publishing House of \u201cLiteratura si Arta\u201d from Chisinau prints \u201cNu va indragostiti primavara\u201d volume of novels. It was proposed to be read within \u201cRepublic of Moldova reads a book\u201d compaign for 2013 year. \u201cNu va indragostiti primavara\u201d is selected to be \u201c The book of the Year\u201d and receives \u201cThe most popular book of the Year\u201d prize. \u201cPoezia anilor \u201970: Nicolae Dabija si generatia sa\u201d monography has been written by Elena Tamazlicaru. The International Book salon from Chisinau offers \u201cOmul Cetatii\u201d prize for \u201cMesaj de Unire\u201d volume of essays. The Publishing House \u201cEuropress\u201d prints \u201cDrumul spre biserica\u201d book. Nicolae Dabija is elected Member of Honor of \u201cMihai Eminescu\u201d International Academy. In the same year has appeared a CD which contains Nicolae Dabija\u2019s poems (N. Caranfil and N.Jelescu are reading the poems). \u201cTitel Constantinescu\u201d International Festival offers a prize for Dabija\u2019s literary creation and it edits \u201cUmbra sirmei ghimpate\u201d book of essays. The Moldavian writer is chosen to be \u201cCitizen of Honour\u201d of Ipotesti village, the place where Mihai Eminescu was born, also in Dumbraveni, Vorona and Botosani (Romania).
