IVAN GRAHOVEC

BIOGRAPHY  

Born in 1946 in Mačkovec near Čakovec. He writes poetry, haiku, aphorisms, poetry imbued with humor, in his region dialect and standard. So far, he has published 10 books, 3 books of poetry in region dialect, 4 in standard, 1 collection of haiku poetry and 2 collections of aphorisms. His literary works have been published in anthologies, web magazines and humorous and satirical magazines Pikač from Prelog, Zlatna smoliga from Malog Mihaljevac and Srak from Samobor. Recently, he is a contributor to the e-magazine Uh!Aha!. He is the organizer of poetry meetings in Čakovec and Međimurje, the editor of twenty anthologies and e-books, and cief editor of the humorous and satirical e-magazine Apollon. He is a member of several cultural art associations.

BREATH OF LIFE

 

While lightning tears the horizons of dreams,

I listen to the rhythm of my heart,

there, on the bed where silence rests,

while in the darkness of the night the moon whispers faintly.

 

Storm outside, peace and tranquility inside me,

in every new dawn,

in every new breath of dawn,

I find traces of existence.

 

Time flows, it doesn’t stop, it won’t,

in the silence of the soul, the answers line up,

maybe tomorrow, maybe already now,

my time will instill wisdom in me.

 

And as I lie so awake, I think,

what is the meaning of my life, everything,

where is my time, in a new breath?,

at this moment, at this time of life?

 

EVIL

 

Blinding flashes in the sky,

with the deafening sound of explosions,

they mercilessly holding their breath

children scared to death,

left to a merciless fate

in the everyday life of a colorless place,

full of ruins and the smell of death

which blows the wind through impassable streets.

 

There are no more screams, no more anger.

Because the grip of reality brings nothing,

except the death that evil brings,

thrusting their iron spears

into the hearts of thousands of innocent children.

 

YOUR LOVE

 

In my heart you are the light that sleeps,

like a star that lights up the night.

Your smile, warm, gentle and gentle,

it warms my heart, I especially like it.

 

Every day with you is a gift for me,

every night brings a new passion of love.

Your arms, a warm embrace always, now,

it is my happiness, my future and my hope.

 

Through starry nights and sunny mornings

your love leads me to a happier tomorrow.

In your look, serenity, light shine,

you live in my heart, forever, know.

 

Our love, eternal, clear water pure,

it shines like the brightest star.

You are my life, my favorite song,

I want your love to warm me forever.
