Poezia e Jeton Kelmendit e bën më së miri atë që kishte për qëllim të bënte poezia: soditja e gjendjes njerëzore duke sfiduar kufizimet e natyrës njerëzore. Si një Alice gjigante në Botën e Çudirave, personazhet që banojnë në faqet e këtij libri dalin jashtë kohës dhe hapësirës, gjuhës dhe vetvetes; megjithëse këmbët e tyre përpiqen t’i shpëtojnë gjendjes njerëzore, duart e tyre nuk mund të mos përqafojnë ëmbëlsinë e hidhur të jetës. Korniza metafizike dhe gjuhësore e koleksionit të këtij poeti të madh shqiptar nuk është veçse një dritare me xham përmes së cilës ai sodit aspektet më të prekshme të realitetit: marrëdhëniet, rritja, lufta, pandemia… ajo që e mban të bashkuar universin poetik të Kelmendit është dashuria dhe gjithçka që duhet për të. thyen ligjet e kohës, hapësirës, gramatikës, dhe individualiteti është një zemër e thyer.

Jeton Kelmendi’s poetry does best what poetry was meant to do: contemplate the human condition by challenging the constraints on human nature. Like a gigantic Alice in Wonderland, the characters inhabiting the pages of this book step out of time and space, language and the self; though their feet try to escape the human condition, their hands can’t help but embrace life’s bittersweetness. The metaphysical and linguistic frame of this great Albanian poet’s collection is but a glazed window through which he contemplates the most tangible aspects of reality: relationships, growth, war, the pandemic… what holds Kelmendi’s poetic universe together is love, and all it takes to break the laws of time, space, grammar, and individuality is a broken heart.

השירה של ג’טון קלמנדי עושה הכי טוב את מה ששירה נועדה לעשות: היא מערערת על המגבלות המוטלות על הטבע האנושי על מנת להתבונן במצב האנושי. כמו אליס בארץ הפלאות כשהיא צומחת לממדי ענק, הדמויות המאכלסות את דפי הספר הזה פורצות את ממדי הזמן והמרחב, השפה והעצמי; בעוד שרגליהן מנסות לברוח מהמצב האנושי, ידיהן נאחזות במתיקות המרירה של החיים. המסגרת המטפיזית והלשונית של אוסף זה של המשורר האלבני המוכשר אינה אלא חלון מזוגג דרכו הוא מתבונן בהיבטים המוחשיים ביותר של המציאות: מערכות יחסים, צמיחה, מלחמה, מגיפה… מה שמחזיק את היקום הפואטי של קלמנדי זה אהבה, וכל מה שנדרש כדי לשבור את חוקי הזמן, המרחב, הדקדוק והנפש הוא לב שבור.

תרגומה לעברית של שושנה ויג מעיד על כישוריה כמשוררת: שפה קולחת, משלב טבעי, ומבנה שמשרת היטב את התוכן – כל אלו מכבדים את המקור תוך ניצול סגולות השפה העברית. התוצר הוא לא פחות מחוויה קסומה עבור הקורא הישראלי.
